Tryggvadóttir uses raw materials to investigate the intersection between the natural and the humanly constructed. She gives the materials structure, space and time to manifest their agency or potential narrative within a processual installations. The framework is set but the materials have full autonomy to play out their act in unpredictable ways.
These situations bring the focus away from a goal oriented narrative and place the emphasis on the process itself, the endless unfolding.
Tryggvadóttir has shown her work in Galleries and Museums internationally, most recently a solo exhibitions at the Reykjavík Art Museum, Hverfisgallerí and ASÍ Art Museum in Iceland. A solo exhibition at The MAI Montreal Canada, artist residency at The Banff Centre Canada and residency and exhibition at The Disko Arts Festival Oqaatsut Greenland.
